Max Hopp reaches German Darts Grand Prix semi-final!

Published on: 23 April 2019

Last weekend the Euro Tour event German Darts Grand Prix was played in Munich. On behalf of Bull´s NL, both German contract players Max Hopp and Martin Schindler participated. Max Hopp was able to write history last year by being the first German player - not to mention in his home country - to win a large PDC event. Max was the best at the German Darts Open in Saarbrücken last year.
Unfortunately Martin Schindler was unable to turn his opening game into a win: the Pool Krzysztof Ratajski was too strong for Martin, 6-2.
Max Hopp started of the evening session playing Keegan Brown on Sunday and won this second round match 6-3! The next hurdle was the experienced Belgian Kim Huybrechts. This match also ended in 6-3 in favor of The Maximiser. In the Quarter Final Max had to compete against the Czech Karel Sedláček. A decisive leg was needed in this blood-curdling competition, which turned out to be in Max’s favor! In the Semi-Final, sympathetic Australian Simon Whitlock was the next opponent. This match was also thrillingly exciting. Unfortunately, Max didn’t manage to cash in a 6-4 lead - and two match darts - and the game went to Whitlock 6-7 in the decisive leg. In the end Michael van Gerwen was crowned champion after beating Whitlock 8-3 in the final, with an average of 106.45.
All in all an excellent performance by Max Hopp, who has again shown to feel very much at home on this big stage!
