Bull´s NL player Max Hopp reaches the final of Players Championship 16!
Published on: 20 May 2019
Last weekend the Players Championships 15 and 16 were played in Barnsley. Bull´s NL players Max Hopp, Martin Schindler and Dirk van Duijvenbode competed in both tournaments. The men achieved appealing results, especially on Sunday: Martin Schindler managed to beat Mario Robbe, but lost 6-4 to Vincent van der Voort in the 2nd round. Dirk van Duijvenbode reached - after successively beating Eddie Dootson and William O’Connor - the last 32, in which Dirk unfortunately lost 6-4 to the experienced Alan Tabern.
Last best, the real fireworks came from Max Hopp: victories over Mark McGeeney (105.2 average!), Benito van de Pas, Jermaine Wattimena, Alan Tabern, Danny Noppert and Robert Thornton brought the Maximiser all the way up to the final, in which he faced the 21-year-old Englishman Harry Ward. After trailing 6-3, Max managed to fight back to 6-6. At 7-7 Max played yet another decisive leg - just like in the games against Wattimena and Thornton. Unfortunately, Max lost this final leg and with it the title. Congratulations to Harry Ward!. Dirk, and Max in particular, can look back on a very successful weekend!
Max has shown to be in good shape with this result. With the World Cup of Darts coming soon - in which he and his Bull’s NL team mate Martin Schindler make an appearance for the German team – this is a pleasant thought! Bull’s NL wishes his team Germany, Max Hopp and Martin Schindler players an optimal preparation for the World Cup and a very successful tournament!
The World Cup of Darts will be played from Thursday June 6 to Sunday June 9 at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany.
